He is survived by: his wife Diane Richburg Champion; his son Jeffrey Todd Champion (Jacqui); his grandchildren, Hayley Champion, Megan Champion, Mary Todd Champion, Ryan Hawkey and Natalie Hawkey; his sister Cynthia Williams (Linton); and his nephew Randy Williams.
