She was predeceased by: her husband James Russell Gardner, Sr.; her parents, Hilmer Peterson and Anna Peterson; her son James R. Gardner, Jr.; and her daughter-in-law Minnie "Mindy" Gardner.
She is survived by: her children, Ruth Gardner Hickman (Henry) of Sumter, Robert A. Gardner of Sumter and Suzan Gardner Cooke (Davis "Cookie") of Myrtle Beach; her grandchildren, Henry Marvin Hickman, III (Lindsay) and Christina H. Jones; her great grandchildren, Avery Ann Hickman, Henry Landon Hickman and Justin C. "Jace" Jones, Jr.; and her child P. O. Box.
