He was predeceased by: his parents, James William Shipman, Sr. and Mattie Ayers Shipman; and his siblings, James W. Shipman, Jr. and Peggy Cook. He is survived by: his wife Patricia Wilks Shipman; his children, Shenay, Dean, Shawn, Robette, James, Sonja and Garrick; and his brother Clarence L. Shipman (Beverly). He is also survived by several grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews.
