She was predeceased by: her husband Marvin L. Jackson; her parents, John M. Newell and Tulah Newell; her grandson Jonathan Petrak; and her siblings, John M. Newell, Beverly Boswell, Juanita Maranville, Vesta Woodfield, Norma Jean Peterson and Genevieve Owens.

She is survived by: her children, Debra J. Petrak (David) and Gary L. Jackson (Kathy); her granddaughter Stephanie Jackson Fletcher (Allen); and her sisters, Mary Coughlin of St. Augustine, FL and Talou Altman of Hemingway, SC. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.

Visitation was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel (3360 Glenn McConnell Pkwy, Charleston, SC 29414). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 at the Live Oak Memorial Gardens (3093 Ashley River Rd, Charleston, SC 29414).
