He was predeceased by: his parents, Montry O. Matthews and Alma Lee Matthews; his great grandchild Taylor; and his siblings, Martha Ann Kirby, Patricia "Tiny" James, Annette Scott and Steve Matthews.
He is survived by: his children, Ronnie Lee Matthews (Kris) of Summerville, SC, Rita Widener (Michael) of Summerville, SC., Audrey Lynn Montgomery (Dave) of Summerville, SC., Jerry Allen Matthews of Summerville, SC., James Williams Matthews of Summerville, SC., Francis Matthews (Tammy) of Summerville, SC. and Kevin Neal Matthews (Christine) of Summerville, SC.; his siblings, Selvajean Bruton (Tommy) of Coward, SC, Delores "Tooney" Miles of Coward, SC, Dexter "Nook" Matthews (Beulah Mae) of Coward, SC, Randolph "Spud" Matthews (Carolyn) of Scranton, SC, Judy Norwood (Jim Nelson) of Florence, SC and Tammy Matthews; and his grandchildren, Shane (Rachel), Gene, Aimee (Mitchell), Missy (Ty), Nicki (Larry), Jessica (Daniel), Michelle (Eric), Tracie (Daniel), Tyler, Ian, Reanna, Aaron and Kaity.
