He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John J. Smith and Nelly C. Dobbins Smith of Starr; his grandparents, Joseph J. Smith, Lille Seigler, James C. Dobbins and Matilda L. Kay; his brothers, Jon Smith (Mildred) and Cary Smith (June); his daughter Jane Edwards; his wife Martha Ann Hawkins Smith; his daughters, Vickie Boozer (Jeff), Melinda Sharpe (Grady) and Shirley Van Sickle (Jon); and his stepdaughters, Melody Huitt, Tammy Thompson and Pam Bannister (Mike). He was also cherished by his 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Memorial Baptist Church, 3518 Whitehall Road, Anderson, SC 29626.
