He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Vernal Ayers Sr. and Rosie Rice Whitson. He is survived by: his spouse Shirley Ann Ayers; his daughters, Nancy Wilson (Steven) and Tracey Kelly (Sam Boggs); his grandchildren, Cora Kinard (Clifford), Thomas Roberts and John Kelly; his great grandchildren, Ford Kinard and Lloyd Kinard; and his stepgrandson Steven Avery Wilson (Destiny).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gaffney Road Baptist Church.
