He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer, Sr. Bowman and Lucindie Bowman; his children, Jimmy R. Bowman and Shirley Ann Bowman; his siblings, Dan L., Joe Major Bowman, Claudine Roebuck and Sarah Smith; his grandchildren, Derrick Bowman and Jamice Bowman; and his great grandchildren, Derrius Armstrong and Quenhiem Bowman.
He is survived by: his children, Evelyn Baker of Chattanooga, TN., Willene McLaurin (Julius) of Jackson, MS., Patricia Pond (Charles), Virginia Davis, Doris Bowman of Anderson, SC, Johnny Bowman (Robin) of Aiken, SC and Kelly Bowman of Jackson, MS.; his siblings, Mattie Mae McGowens of Rochester, NY, Dina Paul (J. L.) of Anderson, SC, Johnny Bowman and Melvin Bowman (Ida Mae) of Anderson, SC; and his close friend Joanne Henry. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren and thirty-six great-grandchildren.
