He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. Rupert Hodges and Eunice Purnell Hodges; and his sister Evelyn Hodges. He is survived by: his wife Nancy Neuman Hodges of Spartanburg; his children, Rebecca Bates (Brian) of Florence, MS, Susannah Byrd (Jeff) of Oxford, MS, Caroline Peters of New Albany, MS and Reese Hodges (Margaret) of Memphis, TN.; his grandchildren, Ben Bates, Sarah Beth Bates, Harris Byrd, McLain Byrd, Daniel Peters, Henry Peters, Dorothy Hodges and Ann Hodges; and his brothers, Rupert Hodges (Sally) of Spartanburg, SC, Heyward Hodges (Loicka) of Madison, MS and Thomas Hodges (Erroll Anne) of Greenville, SC. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 at 2:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg (393 E Main St, Spartanburg, SC 29302).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the West Cancer Foundation (West Cancer Foundation - Cancer Research - Supporting Cancer Patients) Southeastern Newfoundland Rescue (Home | SENCRescue, Inc.) or the Purnell Fund at First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg.
