He was predeceased by: his parents, Kirk Neely and Louise Hudson Neely; his son Erik Hudson Neely; and his brother Bob Neely. He is survived by: his wife Clare Long Neely; his children, Michael Kirk McNeil (Michelle), Scott Jackson Neely (Betsy Claire), Kristofer Mitchell Neely (Sarah Patrice) and Betsy Neely Sikma (Jason); his daughter-in-law June Neely Kern (Ian); his son Elton Ndoma-Ogar (Tyciana); his grandchildren, Reuben McNeil, Anastasia Szmul, Virginia, Peter, Olive, Charlie Kern, Ben, Anne, Michael, Allie, Caroline Neely, Wren Clare and Rowan Sikma; and his siblings, Bill, Lawton Neely, Beth Neely Hedden, Jeslyn Neely Wilson, Mamie Neely Suits and Kitty Neely Cash. He is also survived by his family, friends.
A celebration of life was held on Friday, December 20th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church (393 E Main St, Spartanburg, SC 29302). A reception was held on Friday, December 20th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Palmetto Council of Scouting America.
