He is survived by: his wife Rita Hammond Spiess; his children, Scott Harling (Tracy) of Columbia, SC, Christine Wilson (Eric) of Raleigh, NC, Ryan Spiess of Spartanburg, SC and Kristin Harling of Belize; and his grandchildren, Althea Knapp of Indianapolis, IN, Amanda Herring of Johnson City, TN, Elizabeth Kimball of Columbia, SC, Reuben Miller (Adrian) of Pittsburgh, PA, Grace Harling of Falls Church, VA, Phoebe Harling of Asheville, NC, Rain Harling of Belize, Solomon Harling of Belize and Lulu Ruggles of Belize.

Visitation was held on Friday, November 1st 2024 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Calendar Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel (2075 E Main St, Spartanburg, SC 29307). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 2nd 2024 from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the same location.
