He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Poteat and Guynell Smith Poteat; and his brother Ronald Poteat. He is survived by: his wife Wanda Hammett Poteat; his children, Kimmie Poteat (Mark), Wendy Wooten (David) and David Jones (Kelley); and his siblings, Keith (Myra), Gerald Poteat, Karen, Kathleen, Glennis Poteat and Cheryl Tebalt (Michael). He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 2 great- grandchildren.
