He was predeceased by: his parents, William Jasper and Mamie Brown Watson; his former wives, Shirley Ann Jolley Watson and Beverly Gilmore Watson; his wife Frankie Taylor Watson; and his stepson Irby C. Taylor, III.
He is survived by: his daughters, Annette Watson Landers (Paul Kennedy Landers) and Sharon Watson Benton of Myrtle Beach, SC; his grandchildren, Jonathan Watson Landers, Brian William Landers (Casey), Elizabeth Allyson Landers, Kathleen Benton Carr (Brent) and James Carson Benton, III (Emily Anna); and also, Jan Goslin of Spartanburg, SC and David Taylor (Susan) of Inman, SC. He is also survived by 11 great grandchildren.
