It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Smith (Smoaks, South Carolina), born in Columbia, South Carolina, who passed away on February 20, 2020, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Hallum Smith of Smoaks and Eatofel Vereen Arehart of Little River; his stepfather Marcus Alton Thompson; and his sister Jeanne Sowell. He is survived by: his former wife Mary Mabrey of Spartanburg; his wife Lisa Beth Pickman of Plattsburgh, NY.; his children, LeeAnn Smith James (Brian) of Australia, John "Jerry" Smith (Marites) of Spartanburg, Mary "Mimi" Smith Yeager (Terry) of Atlanta and Susan Smith Freeman-Rundell (Tim) of Little River; and his brother Marcus Thompson of Supply, NC. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and beloved nieces and nephews.
