She was predeceased by: her husband J. P. Benton, Sr.; her parents, John Hatcher and Ollie Goodman Hatcher; and her son-in-law David Crockett. She is survived by: her children, James Perry Benton, Jr. (Janene) of Lodge and Nancy Ann Benton of Smoaks; and her sister Frieda Starr of Lakeland, Florida. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be directed in her memory to: Hunters Chapel Baptist Church, 9375 Hunters Chapel Road, Bamberg, South Carolina 29481.
