He was predeceased by: his wife Christine Mason Murrell; his parents, George Abner and Elizabeth Gonce Murrell; his siblings, Maxine Murrell Moore, Doris Murrell Cooley and Joe Murrell; and his grandson Adam Crosby.
He is survived by: his children, Kelly Murrell (Janet), Becky Thomason (Brad) and Jeanie Sims (Johnny); and his grandchildren, Leanne Bentley (Justin), Eric Murrell (Alicia), Allie Thomason, Matt Thomason, Megan Rampey, Justin Crosby, Jonathan and Sims (Robbie Sims). He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 21st 2025 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes - Southeast Chapel (1604 NE Main St, Simpsonville, SC 29681). A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 22nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Greenville Memorial Gardens (7784 Augusta Rd, Piedmont, SC 29673). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 22nd 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
