He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Kirby Ballew (Thelma) and Sylvia Powell (Jim); his daughters, Jennifer Hillyard (Matthew) of Summerville and Victoria Scott Ballew; his granddaughter Ava Hillyard; and his brothers, Claude Kirby Ballew, Jr (Sandra) of Simpsonville and Jeffrey Wayne Ballew (Wanda) of Simpsonville.
