He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred David Tanner, Jr. and Mary Lou Wham Tanner; and his brother Alfred David Tanner III. He is survived by: his wife Linda Jewell Tanner; his daughters, Denise Tanner LaBeck (Kevin) of Greenville and Melissa Tanner Horn (William II) of Pelzer; his sister-in-law Linda Verdin Tanner of Ware Shoals; his nephews, Billy and Robbie; and his friends, Donnie Roberson and Randall Garrison. He is also survived by his wife, his best friend.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Head for the Cure, 1607 Oak Street, Kansas City, MO, 64108 designated to Team Tanner.
