He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Ira Coon and Barbara Jean Coon; his sister Catherine S. Lobanov; and his pet Pepper Ann. He is survived by: his wife Judy Coon; his daughters, Ashley Garrett (Jason) and Rachel Ninan (Alec); and his grandchildren, Skylar, Maddex, Liam, Elijah, Kennedy and Quinn.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to the National Sea Turtle Foundation in Rick's honor.
