He was predeceased by: his parents, Connie Edgar Benner and Nellie Jane Patterson Benner; his son Gary Benner; and his siblings, Sherman Benner, Claude Benner, John Benner, Raymond Benner, Geneva Tardy, Dorothy Curtis and Loretta McMaster.

He is survived by: his spouse Aleta Kirby Benner; his son David Benner (Allison); and his grandchildren, Kirby Benner, Tyler Benner, Judy Benner and Lucy Benner.
