He was predeceased by: his parents, Grover Thackston and Annie Knight Thackston; and his siblings, Margie Hellams, Uvil Thackston, Gene Thackston, Doyle Thackston and Douglas Thackston.
He is survived by: his wife Mattie Thackston; his children, Keith Thackston, Karen Stokes (Chris), Kim Smith Hall, Kathy Thackston and Kelly Peake (Joey); his grandchildren, Joshua Thackston, Rachel Thackston, Nikki Smith, Josie Smith, Dusty Mann, Lauren Mulkey, Kiersten Mulkey, Mackenzie Peake, Matthew Peake, Brittany Thompson, Kelsey Peake and Christopher Peake; his great grandchildren, Elijah Eubanks, Damonie Evans, Avi Peake, Khi Evans, Addie Peake, Leighton Peake and Kamden Simpson; his sister Mary Lou Reid; and his uncle Bobby Knight.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Alzeheimer's Association.
