She was predeceased by: her husband Jack Kiser; her parents, Alice Elizabeth Brenner Bates and Anthony Whitfield Bates; her brother Anthony Whitfield Bates Jr. (A. W.); and her brother-in-law Gary Hawkins.
She is survived by: her sister Opal Mae Bates Hawkins of Mauldin, SC; her stepson George Nightingale (Nell) of Jacksonville, FL; her nieces, Cynthia Whitacre (Jay) of Fair Play, SC and Deborah Pickard (Henry) of Simpsonville, SC; her nephew Glenn Hawkins (Ellen) of Pelzer, SC; and her cousins, Jimmy Brenner (Bev) of Oklahoma City, OK, Chris Morton of DeBary, FL and Sandy Hale (Steve) of Ellijay, GA. She is also survived by 13 great nieces and nephews along with their spouses plus seven great-great nieces and nephews.
All too quickly, Alzheimer's and Dementia robbed her of the intelligence and intellect she so valued.
