He is survived by: his spouse Meredith Hairston; his parents, Bernard Eugene Hairston and Rachel H. Hairston; his children, Sydney Hairston and Benjamin Hairston; his brothers, Bernard Eugene Hairston, Jr. and Berton Hairston; and his parents-in-law, Deborah Sumpter and B. J. Sumpter (Vernell).
