Barry Franklin Obituary
Barry Bryant Franklin, aged 82, of Simpsonville, South Carolina, found eternal peace in the loving arms of the Lord on September 16, 2023. He was a man of integrity, known for his quiet demeanor and earnest frankness. Born in Vaucluse, South Carolina, on August 13, 1941, Barry was the son of the late Glenn and Iris Bryant Franklin.
Barry is survived by his cherished daughter, Melany Nicole Keith (Justin), his brother, Mike Franklin, and his beloved granddaughter, Addie. He was a dedicated father and doting "Grandpoppy", finding immense joy and fulfillment in his family's love and company. He also leaves behind his niece, Angela McIntosh, and special friends, James Cooper and John Wayne Kneece, who enriched his life with their camaraderie.
Barry was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Iris, his son, Dean Franklin, and his brother, Wayne Franklin. While he faced the challenges of life with courage and resilience, his battle with cancer in his later years was a source of frustration and pain. However, the last year spent with his daughter and her family brought a sense of peace and blessing to their lives, and he departed surrounded by love and comfort.
Barry had a deep love for golf, finding solace and joy on the golf course, and he reveled in the simple pleasure of walking along the beach. He possessed a quiet wisdom and was always willing to offer honest advice when asked. His strong work ethic was an inspiration to all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Barry's memory to cancer research, Shriners, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, as Barry was actively involved with various organizations and held a deep commitment to giving back to the community.
A visitation to celebrate Barry's life and honor his memory will be held at the home of Melany and Justin Keith on September 23, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Barry specifically requested no formal service, but the family welcomes guests into their home to share stories, reminisce, and remember the remarkable man he was. Barry's legacy of love, kindness, and resilience will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
