He was predeceased by: his parents, John B. Newman and Doris Sharpe Newman; his former wife Sarah Hendrix Newman; his son Larry E. Newman, Jr.; and his granddaughter Mandy Jeffers.

He is survived by: his wife Trish Brown Newman; his children, Pam Smith (Jerry), Sherry Cannella, Tony Newman, Sonya Newman, Hope McFadden, Jesse Yocum (Jennifer) and Robin Lucas (Joey); and his siblings, Johnny Newman and Janice Smith (Greg). He is also survived by twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
