He was predeceased by: his parents, Arnold D. Fort and Bertie Shuler Fort; and his siblings, Camilla Thomas, William L. Fort and Joseph A. Fort.
He is survived by: his siblings, Linnie Mae Davis of Moncks Corner and Alton M. Fort of Huger. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
