He was predeceased by: his parents, William Grover and Jessie Bell Barrett Nichols; his son Richard E. "Rick" Nichols; and his siblings, Lois Lee, Ralph Nichols, Harold Nichols and Charlie Nichols.
He is survived by: his brother Tommie Nichols of Central; and his granddaughters, Trina Elliott (Randy) and Amanda Peacemaker. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to Mount Vernon Holiness Church in Seneca, South Carolina.
