He is survived by: his wife Rachel McClam Strater; his children, James Michael Strater, Jr. (Rachel), Kathryn Elizabeth Strater, Jennifer Lynn Strater and Julian A. Buie, Jr. (Vickie); his grandchildren, James Wilson (Kayla), Thomas Wilson, Gavin Hayes, Britney Wegrzyn (Michael), Rebecca Parker, Jacob Parker and Wyatt Wilson; his great grandchild Melanie Rose Parker; and his brother Jeffrey Thomas Strater (Susan).
A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, December 3rd 2024 at 7:00 PM at the Carolina Funeral Home Chapel (215 E Hwy 378 Byp, Scranton, SC 29591). A reception was held on Tuesday, December 3rd 2024 at 8:00 PM at the same location.
