She was predeceased by: her parents, George Whitford Barbee and Blanche Etta Stewart Barbee; her sister Alice Barbee Askue (Hurley); and her son Douglas Eric Helms. She is survived by: her husband Hurley Smith Helms, Jr.; her daughter Karen Helms Leach (Thomas William Leach); her grandson Bradley Clayton Helms; and her daughter-in-law Shirley Newton Helms. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
