Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Ruby Herlong of Saluda, South Carolina, who passed away at the age of 89, on February 15, 2021. She was loved and cherished by many people including: her father Douglas Davenport Padgett; her former spouses, Jimmie Herlong and Wendie Smith; her daughter Charity Chappelear (Mitch); her great grandchildren, Jesse, Olivia and Jake; her son Kirk Herlong; her great grandchildren, Jonathon and Zachary; her grandsons, James (Christine), Daniel, Jesse and Travis; her spouse Joan Egan; her grandchildren, Jack (Caitlin), Darcy Slizewski (Adam), Grace Loveless (Ryan) and Blanche Reese (Hunter); her great grandchildren, Laney, Birdie Slizewski, Carson and Scott Loveless; and her grandsons, Padgett and Harrison.
While we wish that all who loved her could be with us at this time, the pandemic requires us to invite only family and close friends.
We know that many people will want to show their love of her, and we know that in lieu of flowers, what she would most appreciate is contributions to the scholarship established in her name at Winthrop University for the benefit of South Carolina students studying to become teachers.
