She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry "Buddy" Bates and Maria Byrd Bates; her son Anthony Murray; and her siblings, William Bates, Jesse Bates, Susie Bell Bates Craig (Ernest), Annie Ruth Bates Freeman (Robert) and Mary Deloise Bates Dukes (Johnnie).
She is survived by: her children, Eric Bates (Trina) of Aiken, Robert Murray, Jr. (Brenda) of Saluda, Priscilla Bates Spellman (Frankie) of Blythewood and Ernestine Bates of Charlotte; and her sister Esther Bates Bush of Columbia. She is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as a host of loving nephews, nieces, cousins, church family members, and community friends.
Viewing was held on Monday, December 16th 2024 at 2:00 PM and at 3:00 PM at the Logan Funeral Home Chapel (203 N Bouknight Ferry Rd, Saluda, SC 29138). A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, December 17th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the Lockhart Baptist Church (Logan Funeral Home) (1772 Old Chappell Ferry Rd, Saluda, SC 29138). A burial was held on Tuesday, December 17th 2024 at the same location.
