He was predeceased by: his parents, Murray Legare Gunter, Jr. and Lillie Merchant Gunter; his former wife Melanie Scurry Gunter; and his daughter Allison Gunter Cunningham. He is survived by: his wife Joyce McGee Gunter; his children, Murray Legare "Lee" Gunter, IV (Sharon) of North Augusta and Malinda Gunter Justice (Mike) of Lexington; his brother Rev. Rodney Gunter (Dell) of Newberry; and his stepchildren, Tracy Cummings (Toby) of Merritt Island, FL and Virginia "Jenny" Yarborough of Columbia. He is also survived by six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
