It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Charles William McCarty Sr. (Saluda, South Carolina), who passed away on December 24, 2024, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie James McCarty, Sr. and Ora Bell Hewitt McCarty; and his brothers, Willie James McCarty, Jr. and Henry "Curt" Lott. He is survived by: his wife Leora Dobbs McCarty; his children, Charles A. McCarty, Jr. (Bobbie) of Columbia, SC, Msiba Robinson (Kareem) of Melbourne, FLA and Sisi Irvin (Larry) of Columbia, SC; his brother Henry McCarty of Saluda, SC; and his children, Akilah Shani of Columbia, SC, Michael Glover of Columbia, SC and Maisha Kitwana of Columbia, SC. He is also survived by one brother-in-law and seven sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and sorrowing friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at 109 Cardamon Ct, Columbia, SC 29203. Viewing was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and on Saturday, January 4th 2025 at 10:00 AM. A celebration of life was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Clement Road Church of God (3701 Clement Rd, Columbia, SC 29203). A burial was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 at the Mt. Moses Cme Church (306 Mt Willing Rd, Saluda, SC 29138).
