He was predeceased by: his parents, Lee Hammond and Eva Varner Hammond of Salters; and his daughters, Sandra, Baltimore, MD and Ella Mae Chavis of Charleston, SC.
He is survived by: his children, James Hammond and Linda Hammond; his siblings, Ida, Mag, Laura, Pearl, Carrie, Jessie, Earl, Paul, Clarence, Esau, Jessie and Ben; his wife Mary Wallace Hammond; his sons, Tracy Hammond of Gunsspring, VA and Keith Hammond of Charleston, SC; his siblings, Ruth Wallace, Herbert (Maebell), Silas Hammond (Rachel) of Arlington, VA. and Jacob Hammond (Alma) of New Haven, CT; and his siblings-in-law, Loree Hammond, Hattie Hammond, Ernestine Wallace, Loretta Bailey, Rev. Sylvester Wallace (Towanda), William Wallace (Hester) and Clifton McBride. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren; thirty-four great grandchildren; host of nieces, nephews, many wonderful friends.
