He was predeceased by: his parents, J. Herbert Salley and Rosalie Newman Salley; his wife Amelia Salley; and his siblings, Miriam Turkett, Joyce E. Salley, Fred Lewis Salley and Richard Salley.
He is survived by: his son Herbert Ernest Salley, Jr. (Delores "Dee") of Winston-Salem, NC. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
