She was predeceased by: her parents, Byron B. Burgess and Mary Mason Gregg; and her brother Clark Burgess of Benton, PA.. She is survived by: her significant other Keith Edward Alger; her sons, Keith William Alger (Ashley) of Mebane, NC and John David Alger (Allison Alger) of Greenville; her grandchildren, Katlynn Perkins, Hunter Alger, Morgan Alger, Mason Alger, Kiley Alger and Cooper Bostick; her great grandchild Maverick Perkins; and her sisters, Beverly Hulbert (late Richard) of Windsor, NY and Jill Avery (Jerry) of Benton, PA..

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Joy's memory to The American Kidney Fund, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852.
