He was predeceased by: his father James Eric Wallis, II; and his son Rickey Brake. He is survived by: his wife Brenda Smith Wallis of Salem, SC; his sons, Bradley Brake and Gary Brake (Crystal); his siblings, David Wallis and Adeana Lopez (Jim); his grandchildren, Lydia, Nicholas, Bella, Dillan, Devin, Leah, Daven, Lucas, Autumn and Liam; and his great grandchild Shiloh.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tamassee DAR School, PO Box 8, Tamassee, SC 29686.
