He was predeceased by: his parents, Jim B. Spires and Nancy McMichael Spires; and his brother Anthony Spires. He is survived by: his close friend Jeannette Rucker; his sons, Ronald G. Spires (Kelly) and Jim B. "Jay" Spires (Ryan Kolb); his grandchildren, Ashlyn, Dylan, Even, Jordan, Thomas and Jonathan; and his siblings, Jimmy Spires, Chris Spires, Joe Spires, Diane Rucker, Brenda Mitchell and Kay Crosby.
