She was predeceased by: her parents, Arthur Gillyard (Queen Barnwell Gillyard) and Pearline Gillyard; her husband Reverend Samuel Govan, Sr.; and her daughter Debra Govan Elmore. She is survived by: her siblings, Hattie Ruth, Scarlet, Richard, Mattie and Theodore; her children, Queen, Minister Samuel Govan, Jr. (Arventa Smith) of Columbia, SC, Alvin Govan (Lora) of St. George, SC and Darrell Govan of Fayetteville, NC; her siblings, Sandra Butler (Chris) of Hephzibah, GA, Barbara Kelly (Thaddeus) of St. George, SC, Latoya Gillyard of St. George, SC and Chris Cummings of St. George, SC; her sister-in-law Mary Gillyard of Rocky Mount, NC; and her son-in-law George H. Elmore of St. George, SC.. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
