He was predeceased by: his parents, Mae Mitchum Volk and J. O. Barrett. He is survived by: his wife Janice Cummings Barrett; his children, Christina Leopard (Allen) of Warrenville, James "Jimbo" Barrett, II of Augusta, Joseph Barrett (Victoria) of Pendelton and Jacob Barrett of Pendelton; his siblings, Michael Barrett (Mary Ann), Debbie Wallace (Bill) and Susan Shiver (Billy); and his grandchildren, Destanie, Tanner, Xavier, Myles, Erica, Olivia and Vivienne.
