He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnny J. Hollis Sr. and Leila Mae Wolfe Hollis; and his sisters, Jimmie Boykin, Eleanor H. Takach and Evelyn H. Hedgepath.

He is survived by: his wife Ruby Abbott Hollis; his sons, Johnny "Jay" Hollis III (Bina) of Chapin and Curtis A. Hollis of West Columbia; his sisters, Shirley H. Amick of Columbia and Margie H. Oswald (Bill) of Myrtle Beach; and his grandchildren, Brittany, Kelsey and Haley. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
