He was predeceased by: his mother Mary Helen Poteat. He is survived by: his sister Teresa Riner; his children, Kelly Louise Poteat and Brian "Scottie" Poteat; and his grandchildren, Zanah Noelle Chavis, Helena Kinley Chavis, Sofia Fenix Poteat, Dahlia Estrella Poteat and Saul Emanuel Poteat.
