He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Charles Patterson Jr. and Arlene Loader Patterson. He is survived by: his wife Sarah Deaton Patterson; his children, Amy Leigh Patterson of Summerville, SC and Frederick Mullis of Baltimore, MD; his grandchildren, Imagine Patterson of Columbia, SC, MacKenzie Mullis of Wilmington, NC and Connor Mullis of Baltimore, MD; and his brother Robert L. Patterson of Columbia.
