Walter D. Neal Sr. Obituary
Rock Hill, SC – Mr. Walter D. Neal, Sr., 79, went home to be with the Lord Friday, January 25, 2019.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, at Grace Church of the Nazarene, 1029 Mount Gallant Road, Rock Hill, SC, with Rev. Thomas Harvey and Rev. Jesse Sims officiating. The graveside service will be immediately following at Unity Cemetery, 303 Tom Hall Street, Fort Mill, SC. The family will be receiving friends at their residence in Rock Hill, SC, in the days before and after the funeral service.
Born in Fort Mill, SC, Walter was the son of the late Walter Andrew Neal and Rebecca McManus Neal. He later moved to Rock Hill and was a graduate of Rock Hill High School. He married the love of his life and from that point forward, they were inseparable. They enjoyed working together every single day and traveling together every chance they got. He owned and operated several successful businesses before retiring to do what he loved most – spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, camping, snow skiing and most anything outdoors.
Walter leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Peggy Bullard Neal; two sons, Walter Dunlap Neal, Jr. (Emma Neal) and Jeremy Andrew Neal; two daughters, Junia Lynette Neal and JoEllen Neal Smith (Alan Smith, Sr.); three sisters, Annette Neal Porter (Charles Porter), Vivian Neal Patterson (Carl Patterson), and Diane Neal Waldrop. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Dunlap Neal; and three sisters, Mary Ellen Tysinger, Margie Blanche Wyatt, and Peggy Jo Neal Rogers.
In addition, he leaves behind his beloved grandchildren Jessica Neal Hines (John Hines), Nathan Porter Neal (Bethany Dellinger), Jennifer Gillespie Bass (Matt Bass), Jana Gillespie Manery (Brett Manery), Jaclyn Gillespie, Jodi Neal Mabry (Matt Mabry), Jake Neal, Alan Smith, Jr. and Carson Smith.
And his great grandchildren, Bert Hines, Jackson and Emme Herring, Bentley and Kyleigh Baucom, Max Neal, Christian and Julia Mabry, William and Wyatt Manery and an anxiously awaited James Walter (Walt) Bass expected June 2019.
