He was predeceased by: his parents, James Columbus Cherry, II and Nancy Roach; his daughter Wanda Jean Cherry; his sister Debbie Brock; and his grandson Gregory Harley Davidson Faile.

He is survived by: his wife Virgie Thomas Cherry; his children, Ronald Allen Cherry, II of Rock Hill, James Allen Gray of York, Scotty Ray Cherry of York, Jewell Cherry Gregory (Robert) of Rock Hill and Jennifer Elaine Jordan (Trinity) of Clover; his brothers, Robbie Mothershed, Dean Cherry, Donald Cherry and J. C. Cherry; and his stepmother Elaine Cherry. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren.
