She is survived by: her husband Dennis Darwin Hempel; her sons, Kevin Hempel of Rock Hill, SC and Kristopher Hempel (Ashley) of Monroe, NC; her siblings, Donna Blanton (Dennis), Mary Beard (Paul), Larry Palmer (Ruby) and Calvin Palmer; her sisters-in-law, Charlene Vavra (Alton) and Kathy Palmer; her grandchildren, Audri, Andrew, Aiden, Noah, Nash and Natalyn; and her great grandchild Lena.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mrs. Hempel's name to the American Cancer Society, 1901 Brunswick Ave., Suite 100, Charlotte, NC 28207.
