He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Coy Bumgarner and Bessie Lee Turner Bumgarner; and his brother Ray Bumgarner. He is survived by: his wife Cheryl Pope Bumgarner; his children, Joe Bumgarner Jr., Wayne Bumgarner (Shelly) and Kerri Hiley (Tad); his grandchildren, Anna Bumgarner, Kayla Bumgarner, David Abney, Rudy Bumgarner, Courtney Bumgarner, Jonathan Hiley (Rachel), Abigail Hockenberry (Max) and Lauren Hiley; his great grandchild Eliza Hiley; and his brother Calvin Bumgarner (Becky).
