He was predeceased by: his parents, Loyd Childers and Nellie Henderson Childers; his wife Christine Passmore Childers; and his siblings, Elbert Childers and Mildred Walker.
He is survived by: his children, Robert Childers of Rock Hill, Betty L. Ferguson (Daniel) of Rock Hill, Sandy Dayton of Rock Hill and Shirley Martin (Billy) of Blacksburg; and his siblings, Richard Childers of York, Frank Childers of York, R. L. Childers of Blacksburg, Virginia Quinn of Rock Hill, Kathy Blackwell of York, Brenda Quinn of York, Edith Blackwell of Clover, Teresa Loggins of Fort Mill and Helen Ramsey of Sharon. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Childers' name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
