He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles William Blackwelder and Bonnie "Bessie" Lea Whitener Blackwelder; his former wife Alice Blackwelder; and his siblings, Cecil of Eugene, C. M., Bob, Jimmy, Margaret, Ruth and Nancy.

He is survived by: his wife Pearl Arlene Jenkins; his children, Claude Atkinson (Brenda), Barbara Jeffords (Gary) and Kathy Kuebler (Dennis); and his brother Paul Blackwelder (Joyce).
