He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Smith and Alvie West Smith. He is survived by: his wife Gayle Davis Smith; his children, Eddie H. Smith and Robin Pierce (Randy); his grandchildren, Richmond Pierce (Katherine) and Reannah Pierce; his great grandchild Olivia Pierce; and his siblings, Bill Smith, Barry Smith, Russell Smith and Gloria Couts. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Smith's name to Catawba Baptist Church, Cemetery Fund, 1450 S. Anderson Rd., Rock Hill, SC, 29730.
